Punk Rock Postmortem 2021 start of year address (2.1.21)

 Hope you've all worked off your hangovers, people, because this year is gonna be just as bad, with half the excuse. Now, I'm now here to give you the same old "2020 sucked, but 2021 is going to be a great year! Let's jerk off our efforts over the last 365 days to make ourselves feel good" type of thing. I am here to tell you that 2021 will take your fucking nuts and crush them like the wheels of my 2000 Ford Fiesta crushes the head of the next person to say that "Lockdown just is what it is, you can't do anything about it". Sorry, shithead, you can do something about it, and that's the lesson of the day, kids!

I've never been someone who's stuck in with everything they've done, I don't think it's possible to be that driven, unless you're Teddy Kennedy. But, spending my entire life around people whose ability and talent was only rivalled by their apathetic attitude, I know how common it is for people with great ability to not put them to use. From my brother, to my girlfriend, to even yours truly, the biggest killer of your future will be your apathy to act, because while you can learn anything you put yourself to (provided you have the correct amount of chromosomes or appendages). Sadly though, what we call drive is something that I don't believe is as easily attained. I've spoken on this subject at length in my post "Stoking your fire" last year, so while I won't dabble on this any longer, know that I've already said my piece for that.

What I will do though is talk about what my plans this year are. Of course, for the last probably 2 years I've been looking to find a way into music, and though excuses vary, I don't plan on making any in 2021. Starting now, I plan on eating, breathing and shitting my brand of music, not exactly always gonna be punk, but it'll be something with my energy, and that's punk enough for all the kids. Life wise, I want to eat healthier, treat my body better, and reach 1 year without any cigarettes, something I'd have never dreamed of when I started 2020, but what I want to make a reality starting 2021. Travel is another thing on my list, though I am unsure how far I can take that considering the state of the world, as governments try desperately to put the genie back in the bottle. Personally, I don't see this changing soon though, the best we can hope for is for a new group of wankers realizing that this lockdown business isn't made for everyone who can't live off of the taxpayer. But, with travel out of the question, I want to make the world around me right now as good as it can be, upping my gardening efforts and trying to save as much money as I can on veg and other things that I can grow myself.

Anyway, I'm rambling, I've been really off the ball with a lot of things, particularly with this blog, so to whoever reads this, I apologize for my absence. Hopefully I'll see you soon, but until then, we've got a year to take back. Godspeed, ya punks!
